Ep. 102 - Round 8 Recap, National Finals Rodeo 2021
Round 8 didn't disappoint and we only have two more rounds left. We clinched some titles and put question marks around some other titles. One of those that clinched was Stetson Wright who clinched his All Around title for the second consecutive year. As we said in Round 7, we didn’t realistically think that anyone could catch him and, after saddle bronc, had jumped to the #4 overall season earnings records with Trevor Brazil being the only cowboy before him.
Event Recap
Bareback
Clayton Biglow gave us all a scare when he got stuck in his rigging and took a no/score. It was pretty terrifying so fingers crossed that he’s doing okay. His no score was really big because it dropped him down in the average and moving everyone else up.
Jess Pope, who has been making big waves in the rodeo this year, ended up getting a re-ride. He had a 74 point originally and the 83 point ride was important in his re-ride because it put him in the sixth place hole. We had another flip in the bareback projected* average for the NFR as a result.
Kaycee Feild took the round win and went to the projected* average lead with only one point separating Jess and Kaycee for the projected* average. This could easily come down to Round 10.
Cole Franks and Cole Reiner still hold their positions but Orin Larson moved up to 5th. It’s going to get exciting.
